• Remgro Limited’s corporate head office located in Stellenbosch has achieved a 5 Star Office “as built” rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA). A South African first, Remgro is a leader in its commitment to a sustainable future by renovating an existing building and transforming it into its new head office. The choice to retrofit rather than demolish was made for both environmental and sentimental reasons, with the office buildings standing as a small-scale icon in the area of Stellenbosch.
• The GBCSA is an independent, non-profit, membership-based organisation that was formed in 2007 by leaders from all sectors of the commercial property industry, and the green building rating tool (Greenstar) sets standards and benchmarks for green building and enables an objective assessment to be made as to how “green” a building is.
